Now come on, do you really wanna know about me or my writing?

If you wanna know more about the person behind the "mystery", feel free to Google and check out my interviews. I also have interviews on my site. I feel that's the only way you can get to know me better. I know, I know, you'd think I'd want to put all that stuff here on my website right? Well, I'm going a different direction these days. I want the site to focus primarily on my writing and not me. After all, that's what you're really after isn't it?

Besides, do you know how much time it takes to keep a site updated? I like to keep it simple. If I spent all my time adding every tidbit I am doing to my site I wouldn't have time to write.

These questions might help you know more about me as well:

1)Why do you write?

Because it's a part of who I am and yes, it actually makes me happy. I can't see myself doing anything else on this earth and getting the same gratification from it as I do with writing.

2)What types of books do you write?

I write Crime/Detective Fiction, Mysteries and Suspense. My novels also have romantic elements especially Interracial Romances. I believe all authors should write books with various characters of different races and backgrounds. I love Interracial Romances especially because this is a personal preference.

3) How long have you been writing professionally?

Since 1997. I was 19 years old when I began a career in the industry.

4) Why do you love writing mysteries so much?

To me mysteries and thrillers are the best genres in the world. They challenge you and I love to be challenged. I love to go on the hunt or search along with a police detective or victim to find the villian. Nothing gets me off like a good crime/mystery novel. I grew up on mysteries. My biggest idol is Alfred Hitchcock. He inspires me so deeply that I hope I'm rising to his level of crafting wonderful and intriguing suspense. I try my best.

5)Do You Write Romance?

My novels have romantic elements but I do not write straight romance novels. As for reading, my favorite types of romances are Interracial and Historical. I rarely read a straight romance or category romance novel. No offense but it's not my cup of tea. I also enjoy romantic suspense because, well it has some suspense.

6) Do You Read Erotica?

Sometimes. I enjoy erotica that's has an actual plot though. I don't read the XXX stories you'd consider porn.

7) Do You Write Erotica?

I haven't written an erotic novel no, but some of my novels have an erotic element. When it comes to sex for me, I feel like it should move the story or it doesn't need to be in there. I don't stick sex in my novels just to have it in. When I do have sex scenes, the heat level depends on the characters and what they are like. Sex in my books can range from those tender, sweet, innocent "close the door" scenes to nasty, naughty and raunchy. It all depends on what I believe is right for the story and what type of characters are having the sex.

8) Why are your favorite characters villians?

Because villians move the story. I've always been more attracted to darker characters than the good characters. Villians are incredible beings in literature. They keep you guessing and without an authentic, realistic villian in crime fiction, you don't have much of a story.

9) What is something that readers would be surprised to know about you?

I'm a very tall girl at 6'1

10) Where are you from?

Houston, Texas

11) What type of villians do you write about and which are your favorites?

My favorite villians are psychos. I love villians with multiple personalities and mental issues. Norman Bates is my favorite villain because he wasn't one dimensional. He forced you to pity him despite the things he did. I write about every villian or criminal known to man, rapists, stalkers, killers, everything across the board. I especially love to write stalker storylines. They're just the right amount of chill.

12) Other than Hitchcock, who else are your influences?

If you mean literary, most are dead except for one. Kay Hooper is a big influence because she writes great mysteries and romantic suspense novels. She's the one who really fueled my passion for writing crime fiction. The rest are classic writers, Edgar Allan Poe, Charles Dickens, Oscar Wilde, Robert Louis Stevenson, Mark Twain

13) What is your favorite "dark" novel?

My two favorites are Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde and The Portrait of Dorian Gray

14) Do you write other type of novels?

Sure. I also write "general" novels that cross many genres. I write humorous stories. I've got a humorous short story anthology I've been working on. I'm not much of a short story writer but I had fun with it. We'll see where it leads. I also finished a full-length Romantic Comedy novel that's safely tucked away in my agent's hands. I'm not sure whether I'll change my pen name for that one or not, but I intend on releasing some humorous books too. I have one heck of a sense of humor.

15) What's your favorite type of food?

Seafood

16) What's your favorite treat?

Butter Pecan Ice Cream

17) You single?

Wouldn't you like to know?

18) Any final words?

Yes, I hope everyone sticks around, reads my books and comes back and check on me from time to time.

TIPS FOR HOW TO WRITE FAN MAIL TO AUTHORS

Most authors love to receive fan mail. A lot of fans aren't sure of the best ways to contact an author so they are left out without a response. Below are helpful tips that should not only get you a response from your favorite author, but may even get you a faster one.

1) BE POLITE
If you expect a response to a letter or request, be polite. At the end of the letter thank the author for their time.

2) SHARE FEELINGS ABOUT THE BOOK OR AUTHOR
If you really like a book or author by all means say why! Authors love to hear what turns a fan on about themselves and their work. Making an author appreciative not only brightens their day but will give them more incentive to get back to you.

3) CONTACT THROUGH EMAIL
It's much easier for authors to respond faster to email fan mail inquiries. Many find snail mail a headache. There are also a lot of authors who no longer receive snail mail and will not give out a public address. Email fan mail, it's easier for you and the author. An author may be more inclined to reply to your email right then and there opposed to a snail mail inquiry.

4) BE PATIENT
Some people believe it's important to follow-up on fan mail. There is nothing wrong with contacting someone more than once but if you continue to write an author, asking if they received a specific letter, you could tick the author off or cause them to be overly cautious of your motives. Remember, the author doesn't know you so handle yourself responsibly and be a little patient. Keep in mind that you're not the only fan or reader who has decided to write. Also, authors have deadlines, families and personal issues. Respect that. Give the author a chance to write you back without pushing.

5) REMEMBER TO PUT YOUR INFORMATION INSIDE LETTER OR EMAIL
Have your contact information on the letter as well as the envelope or in the email if you are requesting materials. Most authors are not going to take the time to email you for this information.

6) DO NOT FLIRT OR USE STATEMENTS THAT COULD BE MISTAKEN AS SUCH
What you think is a harmless comment, might be seen as a threat to an author who does not know you. Keep your correspondence brief, polite and respectful.

7) SENDING PHOTOS
I suggest you not send any photos to an author. But if you do, then keep them clean and respectful.

8) DON'T ASK QUESTIONS THAT YOU CAN FIND THE ANSWERS TO EVERYWHERE
It is a big turn off when an author reads a letter with a bunch of questions that have been answered in their interviews a thousand times. It makes them believe you don't really know much about them and if you're a real fan you should. Keep your letter creative and different. It shows the author you're truly interested.

You should find these tips helpful for contacting your favorite authors. Make it easy for you to get a response and an author will not only appreciate the effort, they will remember it.
